How the Ratio Calculator Works

This ratio calculator simplifies any ratio by dividing both numbers by their greatest common divisor (GCD). It also converts ratios into fraction form and percentage form for easier comparison and interpretation.

Formulas Used

The calculator uses standard ratio simplification rules:

Simplified Ratio: (a : b) → (a ÷ GCD(a, b)) : (b ÷ GCD(a, b))
Ratio as Fraction: a : b = a / b
Ratio as Percentage: (a / b) × 100%

Example

Simplify the ratio 18 : 24:

GCD(18, 24) = 6
18 ÷ 6 = 3
24 ÷ 6 = 4

Simplified Ratio = 3 : 4
Fraction = 3/4
Percentage = 75%
